A few years ago I fell in love with Askham Hall when filming there for the very first time. Since then friendships have formed, and now it’s not just a venue I love, but it’s filled with people I love too. So.. you can imagine just how excited I was planning a special photo shoot at this amazing place!
Askham Hall describes itself as a really special setting, luxurious accommodation, exquisite food and a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, and I couldn’t agree more. When you’re searching for a wedding venue you may have to end up making some compromises; perhaps they have the perfect room for your ceremony but you’re not keen on the grounds. Maybe they have fantastic accommodation but you’re less keen on where they host your evening reception. Askham encompasses absolutely everything you could possibly want - it’s literally perfect. It’s a beautiful blend of country house meets rustic barn, with spectacular grounds and absolutely stunning views of the Lowther Estate. You can get married in the gorgeous Bank Barn, or if you’re having a smaller and more intimate wedding you can choose the Medieval Hall or the Old Chapel. You even have the option of a garden wedding under the pavilion. Now add to that the accommodation which is perfect in absolutely every single way, including the natural light that floods in through the windows.. a really big deal for photographers ;) As for the wedding and events staff, and indeed all the staff involved in some way on your wedding day, I don’t have enough words to describe just how incredible they are. These guys are my friends, so maybe I’m biased, but I mean it when I say they simply can’t do enough for you. I visit many, many wedding venues each year, and I know just how important it is to have staff who you know genuinely care, both for the wedding couple, but also for us as suppliers.
We ‘borrowed’ the lovely Laura and Tony whose wedding I had the pleasure of filming in 2017, and we brought them to this amazing place for a photo shoot. It was a fabulous collaboration between Lauren Leeson of Lauren Amy Makeup, Claire Hall of Peaches & Cream Wedding Hair, Sally from Roseberry Floral Design, and my glamorous (questionable!) photography partner in crime Alex Ford who assisted me on the day. I’m always absolutely delighted to recommend Lauren, Claire and Sally - they are some of the very best the North West has to offer, as I’m sure you’ll see from the images.
Thank you to everyone involved, especially Askham Hall for hosting the shoot. It was an absolutely fantastic day and we loved every minute!
