Kate & Max at Askham Hall

There’s something about spring weddings in the Lake District that just works, and Katie and Max’s day at Askham Hall was a perfect reflection of that: relaxed, joyful, and completely unforced.

From the very start, the whole day felt easy. No rushing around, no pressure, just a couple who were fully present and enjoying every moment. The kind of wedding where everything flows naturally and everyone settles into it straight away.

A Ceremony Full of Warmth

The ceremony was beautifully simple and completely genuine. No fuss, just a meaningful moment shared with their closest people, full of warmth, emotion, and two gorgeous readings.

Sunshine, Showers & Everything In Between

Spring delivered a bit of everything - bright sunshine followed by the occasional rain shower, but it only added to the atmosphere. The gardens at Askham Hall looked incredible in that shifting light, fresh and full of life. Guests embraced it all, stepping in and out, laughing under umbrellas, and making the most of every moment.

Speeches to Remember

The speeches were a real highlight, each one bringing something different to the day:

  • Katie spoke with honesty and confidence - warm, thoughtful, and completely herself.

  • Her dad followed with a speech full of pride and affection.

  • The best man delivered something heartfelt and sincere; less about laughs and more about meaning, which suited the tone of the day perfectly.

  • And Max closed things out with a speech that felt natural, genuine, and full of appreciation for everyone there.

It all felt very “them”—authentic, relaxed, and full of feeling.

Incredible Food & Laid-Back Vibes

As always, the food at Askham Hall was exceptional. Beautifully presented, seasonal, and genuinely delicious—it gave everyone a chance to slow down, chat, and enjoy the moment.

That same laid-back energy carried through the entire day. No strict timelines, no sense of rushing—just people enjoying good food, great company, and a setting that speaks for itself.

Music That Meant Something

With Max being a drummer, music played an important role throughout the day, but in a way that felt intentional rather than constant. Key moments were shaped by it, adding depth and personality without ever overwhelming the calm, relaxed feel of the wedding.

A Day That Felt Just Right

Katie and Max’s wedding didn’t try to be anything other than what it was, and that’s what made it so special. Relaxed, thoughtful, and full of genuine moments.

A bit of sunshine, a bit of rain, and a whole lot of love.
